People's Health Center Services Medical Services
PHC provides comprehensive medical services to its patients. Our provider staff
includes: a Family Practice Physician, Nurse Practitioner(s), Certified
Nurse Midwives (provide OB care/deliveries), Specialty Physician(s) - volunteers.
Dental Services
PHC offers preventative dental services including: X-rays, exams, cleanings, fillings, extractions, crowns and dentures (limited).
Pharmacy Services People’s Health Center offers pharmacy services to its patients. Patients who are eligible for the sliding fee program receive their medications at 30 to 50% below the retail market. Wagey Drug, a local pharmacy near PHC, fills all medications. Mental Health
At this time limited mental health services are provided in-house, with a licensed mental health therapist. Most cases are rererred outside to collaborating medical agencies.
Radiology (X-Ray) Services
PHC has certified x-ray technicians to provide limited x-ray services.
WIC Project Nutrition counseling and education, the Women’s Infant and Children’s Supplemental Food Program (WIC) provides food vouchers for pregnant women and children up to the age of 5. Translation Services PHC provides translation services to its non-English speaking patients. HIV/STD Testing
Confidential HIV/AIDS testing and counseling is available.
Transportation PHC provides a limited number of bus passes. Voluntary Services
PHC has several persons who volunteer their services regularly each week.
Those services include: Clerical, Nurse Practitioners, medical records, Interpreters and other.
Health Disparities Collaborative (HDC)
PHC, as leaders in managing quality improvement, and moving toward the elimination of health disparities in our community, has implemented key elements to improve health outcomes among patients with chronic diseases. Currently, PHC has developed a chronic disease management program. The program addresses patients diagnosed with diabetes. Asthma, another chronic illness, will be addressed in the near future.
Minority Health Program
The Minority Health Program services minority adults (19 years older). Along with the medical services received, cardiovascular disease is one major illness monitotred among enrollees. Also, patients in the program receive health education counseling, medication management and other medical information that discuss measures to improve their health.
Prenatal Care Program
PHC's goal is to provide prenatal care to women in their first trimester. Women who seek early entry to prenatal care reduce the rate of infant mortality. Having healthier moms creates healthier babies. This program's services are provided by Certified Nurse Mid-wives. Our nurse mid-wives deliver our newborns and post-partum care is followed up at our clinic.
Medication Assistance Program
PHC offers several prescription assistance options to its uninsured and underinsured patients. Through various pharmaceutical companies, PHC staff completes applications for patients to obtain their medication at an affordable cost.
